Ingham Wins Golf State for CW

Creek Wood High School senior Marlee Ingham cruised to a six-stroke victory to claim the TSSAA Class A-AA state golf title Wednesday. Ingham was in a three-way tie for first after an opening round of 76 Tuesday at the WillowBrook Golf Course in Manchester. But she pulled away from the field yesterday with steady play that saw her hit 12 of 18 greens in regulation to card the only par round of the girls’ tournament with a 71. Ingham took the title six strokes ahead of Mallory Sullivan of DeKalb County. Signal Mountain won the girls’ team title at 322 while Hickman County finished sixth. Dowling Armstrong of David Lipscomb won the boys’ title with a two-day total of 138 and Notre Dame won the team crown. Ingham is the second Lady Red Hawk to win the state championship after Elizabeth Dotson won back-to-back titles in 2002-03. Dickson County High School’s Ben Wolcott and Katie Story will compete in the Class AAA tournament at WillowBrook starting Tuesday.
